AI, but make it real

We’re the Saxtons.

AI, But Make It Real is run by Amelia and Justin Saxton out of our house in Perrysburg, Ohio. Four kids, two dogs, and a kitchen table that does a lot of work. This page is who we are and where we came from, in plain words.

Amelia

Amelia spent 13 years at Fortune Brands and Therma-Tru, starting as an intern in 2013 and finishing as Principal, AI Enablement and Automation. The middle of that career was product data. She launched three PIM systems (Stibo STEP and Salsify among them), kept 20,000 products and about 1.5 million configured records straight, and built the pricing tools fabricators priced doors with every day.

The automation work is what this company grew out of. One system she built took a process that ran three weeks down to two days. Another cut $25,000 in outside costs in three months. She managed a small team, enabled a bigger one, and spent her last stretch teaching engineers and sales teams how to actually use AI in their own work, with the guardrails written down.

She has a BBA in Professional Sales and Marketing from the University of Toledo and is Salsify certified. Teaching was always the part she liked best. She hosted training sessions for years. So that is the part she kept.

Justin

Justin is a stay-at-home dad, which at our house means he runs the home front: four kids’ weeks, two houses’ worth of schedules, and the hundred small systems that keep a family moving. He is also half the building team here. He is a systems thinker with a strong follow-through streak, and he is the first tester of nearly everything we make.

His rule is the company’s rule, really: if it doesn’t work in a real house with real kids, it doesn’t ship. A lot of tools die on that test. The ones on this site passed it.

The family

We are a blended family. Four kids between two houses, ages four to fifteen, on a week-about rhythm that anyone in a blended family will recognize on sight. Two dogs, Sadie and Barney. We live in Perrysburg, in the Three Meadows neighborhood, and most of our neighbors know us from the school runs and the front yard.

Nearly everything on this site started as something our own family needed first. Homework updates that reach both houses, because papers kept getting lost between them. A college helper for our oldest. A Halloween finder, because finding the good trick-or-treat streets took a spreadsheet every year. We build it for us, we use it hard, and then we hand it to the neighborhood.

Why this exists

Amelia was laid off in the fall of 2026 when her role was eliminated. We had a stretch of time we didn’t expect, and four kids watching what we did with it. So we built the thing we kept talking about: a small local company that makes an impact while teaching automation and AI in real-people terms, so people know what these tools are doing and when to pay attention, and can stay calm the rest of the time.

Most of what we make for neighbors is free, and we want to keep it that way. The paid lessons and setups are what let the free stuff keep running. If you want the short version of how we work, it is on the Questions page: what we can do, what we have done, and what it costs, answered straight.
